I want to share a lesson I've learned along my entrepreneurial journey—one that has transformed the way I approach business and life as a whole. It may sound unconventional in the world of profit margins and bottom lines, but trust me when I say it's the secret sauce that has propelled me forward: prioritizing God in business.
Picture this: a few years ago, I was a wide-eyed entrepreneur with big dreams, hustling day and night to build my empire. I was chasing success, fueled by the desire for financial stability and recognition. It seemed like the world's approval, earning an income I was proud of, and my ambitions were what took precedence in my life. But little did I know that something essential was missing from this pursuit.
One day, after yet another late night, I found myself sitting alone, feeling drained and unfulfilled. I had achieved some level of success, but deep down, there was an emptiness within me that no amount of profit could fill. It was in that moment of reflection that a question echoed in my soul: "Is this what it's all about? Is this the purpose of my life and business?"
The answer came to me in a gentle whisper: "You need to prioritize God."
Now, hold on a second. I know what some of you may be thinking: "Okay, but how does that translate into actual business success? What does God have to do with profits and market strategies?" Trust me, I understand those doubts. But let me share with you what I've discovered.
You see, when I decided to put God at the forefront of my business endeavors, something extraordinary happened. It wasn't an immediate transformation, mind you, but a gradual shift that brought clarity, purpose, and a renewed sense of joy. It was as if I had unlocked a wellspring of inspiration and resilience that I never knew existed.
I started to approach my work with a different perspective. Instead of relentlessly pursuing self-gain, I began to seek guidance from my God and King. Instead of calling myself the CEO, I handed that title to the Lord and leaned on God's wisdom to make decisions, trusting that His plan was greater than my own. It wasn't about simply asking for success and prosperity; it was about aligning my ambitions with His purpose for me.
Let me tell you, sweet friend, this change in mindset has made all the difference. By prioritizing God, I found myself embracing a set of values that went beyond mere profit margins. Integrity, compassion, fairness, and faith became the pillars upon which I built my business empire. I saw opportunities to make a positive impact on the lives of others, to uplift and inspire women to create margin for what mattes most, rather than merely accumulate wealth and function from overwhelm in the process.
As I immersed myself in this new way of doing business, I witnessed firsthand how my relationships with my family, community, and clients deepened. There was an authenticity that resonated, a genuine connection that surpassed transactional exchanges. And guess what? Success followed suit. My faith, marriage, and motherhood remained in first place in my life, and my business flourished. Not just in terms of financial growth, but also in terms of the impact it made in the lives of those it touched.
If you're feeling a void in your entrepreneurial journey, I invite you to consider this radical shift—prioritizing God in business. It's not about sacrificing your ambition; it's about aligning it with a purpose greater than yourself. It's about infusing every decision, every action, with God's divine touch. And I promise you, the rewards will surpass anything you could have ever imagined.
